Cables

Is it ok to replace cables which delivered with device with UTP?
I was planning to connect device in some distance from electricity switches . I connected all clamps and solar EM10 DIN meter via utp.
I get reading about 0.2 -0.3V from clamps and 4.7 from EM10 cables
is it right ?
Can I do the same with water & gaz sensors ?

thanks

I don't know if you may extend the clamp wires. But the water and gas sensor cables can be extended!
I think 10-15m is no problem at all. My water sensor is extended for approx. 8m and is working fine.

This post has got me thinking of doing the same thing. Clamp and pulse sensors via UTP (CAT5) cable to a remotely located Flukso unit.
I imagine the pulse outputs would be relatively unaffected by many metres of cable but the clamps i am not sure about. Are they analogue? If so a voltage drop over a long length of cable may make a difference. Would it be possible to calibrate the sensor board to compensate?
I am hoping to replace the clamps with pulse from kWh meters for all my inputs eventually so not a big issue but maybe some other Fluksonians would like to be able to extend their clamp cables.
