Cannot get readings from Flukso..just started today..reset EVERTHING.. many hours of stuffing around :(

I cant believe this unit can give so much hearthache..
It stopped responding this morning.
I reset power.
I tried to see thru wireless then lan cable.. nothing, cant display web page (for Flukso box, was 192.168.0.11)
Tried to reset Flukso??

Instruction in latest manual timing seems to be different?
Mine resets at 10 sconds to defaults (need SSID reentered etc etc)
Did that a few times. :( (finally got back to 192.168.255.1)
Tried to cycle wireless function, same with timing.and diff led sequence.
Mine has solid glow, 2 flashes per sec and no glow (couldnt find that in manual?)

Added Internet conn manually to match assigned in cable router.(192.168.0.11)
Can see web page for local Flukso again.
Flufso server ping test failed on sensor page too..
Do I need a new unit?

I copied latest syslog below.
Absolutely stuck and bewildered that something can torture me like this unit does. Been at it now off and on since 7:am this morning, 10pm now..nite :)

Edit: Irrelevant sys.log data removed

Unit now functioning 3 days later..............see later post, Baz

Hi Bazzle,

Let's take a systematic approach to solve this issue. These are my assumptions:
1/ you've connected your FLM to your home router via an ethernet cable
2/ your home gateway is configured as DHCP server, handing out IP-addresses on 192.168.0.x
3/ you can now access the FLM's local web pages over your local network, so your computer is on the same 192.168.0.x
4/ you can load a web page with your computer connected to the local network

Can you send me a screen shot of the local 'system' page via email?

Cheers,
-Bart.

Hi Bart
I need your email please.

I have tried every combination of 1v4 addys etc etc and can think up .....
I can get the minute display to come up now using direct connection with local addy but it stops after 5 minutes.

I just tried plugging my pc into the FLM but it says no connection ?
I will "reset" again for the umpteenth time. What is the correct way to reset my FLK2?
If I hold the switch for 1 minute plus the lights stay the same.
If I hold for 10 secs or so it seems to loose its settings.
Is there a link to an earlier manual that suits my model as it behaves differently than the manual says for wifi lights.

OK, found the addy info@flukso.net

I have reset again and will try to get back into the Systems page.
Ill email when I get the info and the time.

Hi Bazzle,

* Could you please confirm each of the assumptions (1 through 4) in the above comment?
* The button behavior is as described in the Fluksometer Manual. The 'restore firmware' option will only become available in r216. You're on r215. Please mind that these button functions will only work after the FLM has booted (indicated by a blinking heartbeat LED). Holding them down during boot time will not trigger anything.
* If you put the FLM into ethernet mode (which is what I'm assuming you want), you have to connect the ethernet cable to your router. Do not try to connect it directly to your laptop. This will not work, since both your laptop and the FLM will both be in DHCP client mode. If you want to load the local web page in this setup, then connect your laptop to your router's ethernet port (or connect it to your wifi network) and point your bowser to http://192.168.0.12 (not http://192.168.255.1).
* Your FLM was reporting its readings just fine between 10:08 and 10:39 this morning. See the charts on flukso.net. Why didn't you leave it running?

Cheers,
-Bart.

OK so holding for a long time is not ready yet. I had no idea what number mine is.
I dont get same lights for wifi. I get solid, 1 second flash and no lights. I cannot see that in the manual.
When it was working I could not see the flm here so I reset and it stopped again.
It seems to be working now as indicated by the ping suceeded but I cannot see anything on the Flukso dash..yet.
It is connected by Lan cable with NO light on the WiFi lit. All others are on with heart beat flashing.
I can see by connecting to the ip addy 192.168.0.22 on my pc.
I wont touch anything until I hear back from you. I will send screen dumps shortly.

Sorry if I seem terse but I am so frustrated.
I dont know a lot about networking , ssh, codes at the bottom of this page etc but Im learning.
Im sure Im not alone with this.
I do appreciate your help :)

OK, 3 days later.
Many, many resets, reloads, resets etc.
Was working ok for a while. Moved the power plug the FLM, no data after reinit..grrr.
Reset FLM with button again.
Re-entered provider name and pass.
Never ending connecting to FLM loop.
Opened new web page and data accepted.
OK
10 mins later, 0 data output.
Went back to page NO entries??
Reloaded data again.
Same loop. Closed and reopened web page.
This time it held it.
Still working 1 hour later :)
Lights all flashing as per timing in Manual..

Bart..is there any chance I may have an intermittant FLM?

Hi Bazzle,

Here are some intermediate conclusions:
1/ The router board is working fine.
2/ Communication between router and sensor board is working fine as well.

This means that it makes no sense at all to restore to defaults, then reconfigure the settings over and over again. Stop reconfiguring the FLM.

In order to find the root cause, we should approach the issue in a methodical manner. So the next time the FLM stops reporting its readings, just leave it in that state. Report back on this forum thread. We'll then log in remotely and perform additional troubleshooting. Do you have a skype account we can use to communicate during troubleshooting?

Cheers,
-Bart.

No skype....yet. (something else yet to install)
I will investigate.
I will also do as you suggested.
Thanks for your patience...
