can't get flm working with Kaifa smart meter over P1 connection

Connected my brand new FLM v2b software 232 to my P1 port of a Kaifa smart meter (Dutch)

- Kaifa smart meter with P1, modelyear 2014, recently installed
- wiring connected to FLM ports 6a, 6b and 5-
- hooked up to router using cable, ping working correctly
- dash keeps telling me: "Error - The call for sensor smart-main experienced a timeout. You are probably not in the same local network as the FLM".
- dash data is blank

- I can connect to and log-in to the FLM, from the lan.
- device sends heartbeat to Devices list at Flukso.net
- Two sensors seem to be registered at the sensors list (smart-main, gas and electricity) at Flukso.net

Checked the forum, but I can't find an answer.

Can anybody tell me what's wrong or where to start looking?

Tx.

Hello Maarten,

The Kaifa is a DSMR 4.0 compliant smart meter. We have to upgrade your FLM to the latest (beta) firmware version so that it can properly decode the incoming P1 telegrams. Just make sure to keep your FLM online in the coming hour. I'll report back when the upgrade has finished. Keep the P1 port connected to the FLM so that it can be tested.

Cheers
/Bart

Hello Rickb,

I have reported 5 weeks ago the same problem. Could you tell us if the upgrade of the firmware solved the problem ? Thank you.

Tnx Bart. Meter is on all the time. Plse tell when its upgraded.

@ Verkenner48: i will check and get back to you later.
Cheers.

@Verkenner48: Your FLM will be upgraded to r243 in the coming hour as well. Make sure the P1 cable is hooked up to the FLM as follows:
red > 5-
black > 6a
yellow > 6b
green > not used

@Rickb: The upgrade has finished, but I'm not seeing any data from the P1 port coming in. Are you sure the P1 cable is properly connected (see above)?

Hello Bart,
Untill now I see only the production of the PV System with a S0 connection.
The connection between P1 and the FLM is the same as in April when I used the Landis + Gyr meter. With these meter and connection I could saw the readings.
I waiting for your respons and thank you for your help.

@Verkenner48 Should be ok now. Please confirm.

Hello Bart,
Yes!!!. Since 15.15 I could see the electricity from P1.
The numbers are negative, but that is because the PV system has now a great production. Only there no numbers in the gas-sheet.
Perhaps because that no gas is used now: than must i see: 0 ?
But i have in the past also problems with reading gas consumption from P1

The trace tells us there are 0 L/day being consumed:
/sensor/9f03e3.../gauge [1413390439,0,"L/day"]

You might just wait a bit or consume some hot water just to check whether gas readings are being picked up.

Bart, everything works fine.
It is also possible to show the real E consumption in PVoutput by adding the P1 output with the production from S0.
Thank you for your help.

@Bart
Sorry for my late response, was away for a few days.
Today I rechecked my cable. I unplugged from meter and FLM. I checked using a Fluke multimeter, testing connectors both sides of the cable for resistance. Since one of the cables was broken of the FLM connector on receiving the package from you, I recreated it with some stuff I had laying around.

Yellow cable connects to 6b, resistance 1 Ohm
Black connects to 6a, resistance 1 Ohm
Red connects to 5-, resistance 2.4 Ohm

On the dash, I still get the message:
"Error - The call for sensor smart-main experienced a timeout. You are probably not in the same local network as the FLM."

I also noticed that the software version has changed to 243.

I have no idea what to do. What would you suggest?

I have a similar/same problem:

  • brand new Landys+Gyr ZMF110
  • brand new flmv2b
  • flm connected via LAN
  • P1 connected with cable provided (I didn't see any options to configure P1 under "Sensor")
  • I see gas and electricity sensors on flukso.net
  • I see my device ID (version 244) on flukso.net
  • status page 3x OK (incl ping to flukso.net)

Despite all the good signs I don't see any electricity or gas readings in my dash. After a few seconds I see Error - The call for sensor smart-main experienced a timeout. You are probably not in the same local network as the FLM.

What to do next?
