Extreme Makeover

We've been busy these past months creating a new skin for the Flukso web site. The time has come to deploy the design to the live server. So brace yourselves for an extreme makeover. Since this update requires a rather significant update of the server code base, we have scheduled a maintenance downtime from 21h to 24h CET (19h to 22h UTC) on April 2nd.

Taking the red pill and crossing fingers...

Looks great!

Could you please add a summary figure to the graphs, showing kWh consumed in the visible portion of the graph at least for the hour and day graphs, and the average power? Previously I could derive this kWh from the average power figure from rrdtool.

I also haven't found the compare with other users page.

I do like the ability to scroll back and see the previous few days.

Have you tried the cumulative Wh unit? If you point to the last reading on the chart, you'll see the total Wh consumed in the interval.

The comparison feature is still in the works. Since we've now got too many users to display all of the handles, we'll take a different UI approach.

Bart,

indeed, looks quite good

A few thinigs to note:

According to my IE, not all of your code is https:// ok
I need to confirm every refresh for security as it states 'not all content is delivered using https security.

Would it be difficult to optionally switch each sensor line on/off on the graph
Sometimes one of the consumers is simply much smaller than the others and in that case, the auto scale makes the lower consumer hard to study in detail

Finally, I find the line thickness a bit too thick, the previous graphs gave a more 'sharp' look
I know, cosmetics, but just wanted to mention it.

Further, a good improvement, I do like it, regardless of above comments

Keep it up
:-)
Carl

@carlibens

1/ The IE security warning should only occur when the real-time minute charts are rendered. In that case, we're calling the FLM directly via http while the page itself was loaded from flukso.net over https.
2/ What version of IE are you using?
3/ Toggling the plotting of individual sensors will be added later.

Bart,

1) it does each time when I renew the page. it does not do it when changing from 'day' to 'hour' by the respective buttons on the page

Going to 'minute' button gives me the following message:

Error - Real-time charting is not available on this Fluksometer. If you have an FLM02, then please upgrade to the latest firmware release on the my account -> devices page

where my device is an FLM2 and on the devices page all I see is 'remove upgrade' so I guess it did upgrade already

2) IE is 8.0.6001.18702

3) noted

1/ It should be possible to get rid of this warning at page load by altering a setting in IE config.
2/ You might consider upgrading to either IE9 or the latest FF, Chrome, Safari, Opera versions. All of them support SVG and thus decent chart rendering performance. IE8 doesn't. VML will be used as rendering technology instead, causing degraded performance.

Bart,

the new interface is GREAT. However:

1/ So far I was not able viewing the graphs on a mobile browser on an Android smartphone. Tried the default browser, dolphin, nineski ... flash installed and other websites content seems to display fine.
Any tips?

2/ The averages over a period are not visible anymore with the new skin. This is the only dearly missed feature after the makeover ...

Aside from this the new skin really rocks, thumbs up!

I couldn't believe to see the realtime chart working right away after the seamless firmware update of my unit. What a great help to identify nasty power wasters.

Congratulation guys!

Does anyone succeed in viewing the flukso data in the new skin on an android device (smartphone)? If yes, how?

All help appreciated..

@zan The new skin does need some additional work to make it more mobile friendly. It's on the todo list. In the meanwhile you can test the 3rd party Android app. Head over to this forum post for further details.

Cheers,
-Bart.
