Water Probe - 80k liters in 35minutes?

Hey All

My new flukso turned up yesterday arvo and i'm like a kid in a candy store :D

I'm slowly muddling through the setup. I've wired in the water meter and i'm in the process of trying to set it up with-in the flukso. But i'm receiving some weird readings.

Apparently between 22:10 and 22:45 this evening, I've gone from using 0k lperday to almost 80k liters per day? and looking on the minute graph, it seems to alternate between 71/72k in 5 second intervals.

I'm in Australia and whilst i haven't been able to find out much information about my water meter, it is pretty much identical to the grenade style one shown in the photo on the flukso shop/water probe section (Kent V100)

I've done a bit of digging trying to find out what the meter is and I believe its a Elster V100 - same as a Kent V100?

They list the specs as 5L/Pulse (PDF Specs: http://wwwbe.elstermetering.be/downloads/V100_SML001_Spec_aus_0905.pdf)

The probe is connected to the flukso on port 4, with the class as Pulse and constant as 5.

Obviously i've not got something setup correctly here. Can anyone help and tell me what i've got wrong?

Attached with this post is screen shots of the day and minute graphs, along with the sensor setup

Thanks in advance
Adam

Hey Baz,

Yep thats pretty much the exact setup I have - same water meter and the flukso water probe

You thinking of getting the water probe as well?

Cheers

Sounds acceptable. Note the units: liter PER DAY. If you change the unit to liter per minite or cumulative litres, you ll notice thats about 6 l/minute. (80000/2440min/day). Which is around the rate of a water savings shower ( more or less ).

Yup. Ordered an Reed (10 of $3.65) from ebay.
See my other post.

Did you work it all out for water?

Ive dummied mine up today using 0.5 as pulse count. Might change to 5.0 like I just read above. Readings weird. Started at 80 l/m, gone to 2 litres usage using cumulative. Not sure what graph settings to use.

Perhaps you can fill a bucket with 10 l water and check your result.

Related to this topic (but maybe more appropriate in dev-subforum?):
I assume it wouldn't be to hard to add a scale "liter per hour", since l/min and l/day exist already?

In my opinion, this would be much easier to understand; especially when looking at the water usage in the DAY timeframe (wich I most often use myself).
For me, it is easier to grasp and evaluate quantities such as e.g. "20 liter of water per hour, during 2 hours", than to recalculate it back from a per day or per minute (eg. "0.33 l/min during 2 hours") basis.

In day view i used a lot the " liter [cumulative] "

Thats the one, water cumulative.
Working properly now.
Needed a few days to work it out ;)

Now for the gas :)

Hey Baz

Sorry for the delayed reply. I never did manage to get it work correctly. The same for the gas probe.

I know it is working as I can see under the logs, that the pulses are being received. As far as reading it on the flukso website, I gave up as no matter what view I put it on l/min l/day cumulative etc never seemed to add up.

How did you get yours working - IE what settings did you end up using both with the sensor (0.5 or 5.0 etc) and with the flukso dash?

I was toying with the idea of trying to get the water and gas probe readings into PVoutput (so as to avoid having to use the flukso dash) but I never got around to doing it..

Cheers

Adam, to make use of extra inputs in PVoutput, you have to make a donation.
In your setting when scrolling down you will see :
Extended Data
Upload six additional live data streams with donation features enabled
One can click on donation, then: http://www.pvoutput.org/donate.jsp

I ended up with '5'
The initial readings were a bit over the place but after 3 days now the data looks acceptable.
You cant open the Day page until a few hours of data is received, same with the Week etc.
I can now see l/day (175) but it didnt start to work until 3 days of data was cached on the Flukso site.
I look at l/h cumulative just to see what water different things use, ie. shower ~80, dishwasher ~7, etc
The monthly graph is now showing this morning. I will use that in cumulative to check against my water bill (just because I now can :) )
Still playing around.. I used 2 twisted pairs from some cat6 cable I has that I ran thru the garden under the mulch for 55 meters. I soldered a glass bead mag reed on the end and heat shrunk it to seal the cable. Poked that into the hole on the meter and tied up the spare loop of wire to the pipe. I have my meter in an alloy box sunk into the ground with a lid on it.
It took 3 reed switches as they are real fragile. If I bent the lead they broke :( Got 10 off ebay for $3.
Still not sure re the gas as I cant see a way it can give me a signal. Next project.

Fluc.. Thanks for the heads up on the extra PV output fields. I may take it up later.
