Water and Gas on pvoutput.

bazzle's picture

Im getting really strange readings aligning with the Flukso site graphs but very high readings on PVoutput?

fafot's picture

Bazzle,
I will inquire further what I can do and also call the council. Will see what they can do first.

In regards to your water readings, I cannot see the Flukso without logging in your name but it looks like your reading is multiplied by some fix factor. Maybe, the PVoutput is not setup correctly?

@fafot

Your arrow points at the leak detection indicator. Spins mad fast when you open a faucet and slow if you have a leak like the size of a pin hole. Drips won't register.

More info here:

The indentation over the 10 liter dial is for pulse detection. :-)

Not sure what the max length of the pulse detection cable is but you might need to put a pulse capable meter somewhere inside, closer to flm, at your own cost. :-(

Pietro, David & Frumper - thank you for the good info.
The max cable for the rid is up to 20 meters so it is quite enough for me but the wireless option is very interesting too. I am going to call the council today to see if they can switch my antique meter to a newer one like the NSW one that accepts the rid.

How funny it may sound but I talk with the City Council and they are going to replace the water meter, BUT... they are going to put the same model - just new one! They don't have the "numbers only" meters with the place for the rid. Hmmm, not much help here.

Looks like I will have to put my own one "somewhere" because I have no clue where is the main water entry to my house.

@fafot - made the same experience; certain utility suppliers seem not willing to "innovate" or even "think" if they can go to the basement and grab what they have in stock since medieval times (same with eMeters and gas maters). Sad, but not to be changed unless you buy the utility ;-)

There may be a "magnet" inside the new one. Check it with a compass or iphone.

Bazzle, it is actually even worse. The Council told me they have $50K of the old meters so we are talking about another 10 years of old meters!

@Bazzle, Adamcowin and others,
How your graphs on PVoutput looked by now ?
I manage to put the Gas and Water as third and fourth Flukso sensor on PVoutput this afternoon.
But I was a bit struggling with the extended data settings.
Right now these are:
On the secondary devices V7 and V8 , both Litres per minute
On the extended data settings:
V7:Line;Gas usage;LPM;0;None; None
V8:Line;Water usage;LPM;0;None;None
V9:Area;Gas usage cumulative; LPD;0;None;None + Calculated of cumulative of V7
V10:Area;Water usage cumulative; LPD;0;None;None + Calculated of cumulative of V8

Are your settings much different ?

bazzle's picture

On Flukso site if I use litres cumulative it shows correct reading of usage ongoing. On PV output page it goes all over the place. I havent looked at it for a while as I ran out of ideas.
Gave up on gas as even though I got a good reading with optical sensor my meter is in direct sunlight and I couldn't shade it around meter to stop stray light. I did make up a shroud but meter reader chappie pulled it off.

Might be time for another stab at it all.

Bazzle
Same here. I think we should raise this problem with PVoutput on their forum.

bazzle's picture

That looks great. Can you post a screen shot of our settings on PVoutput and the same for the flukso page please?

bazzle's picture

Thank you Fluc.
I will "absorb" over the weekend .
Cheers.

bazzle's picture

and the same for the flukso page please?
ie settings on the water graph

Cheers Baz

bazzle's picture

Yes the 2nd one water cumulative. Thats what I look at.
I asked as my PVoutput graph is set up like your setting now (thanks) but on pv output it shows in 1000's of litres? not 10s or 100s :(

Fluc's picture

Yes Baz, I know this is a problem that I can't find the solution for. But I'm trying once more....
I like (like you i think) see a graph that show liters and liters cumulative, but in PVoutput it looks that we can only choose LPM (liters per minute), LPD (liters per day) and M3 per year..these are water flow speeds.
Those says not much for me to see real water consumption.

Now I changed the Litres per day to Litres per minute in the secundairy sensors field and it looks a bit better now: https://db.tt/wGteMmJ4

Then I changed the units LPM and LPD in the extended sensors data fiels for V7, V8, V9 and V10 to L
And following graph is way better i think ?

If we could know all the possibilities that PVoutput can offer for Flukso owners, it would be more easy, don't' you think ?

bazzle's picture

That looks good.
Issue Im getting is the data shows in 1000s of litres not 10s like yours.
Thats why I asked what setting you used on Flukso page.
When I first open graph on Flukso it shows in L/Day which has a scale on the left of 4K.
When I click on l or l/cumulative it shows correctly at example 40litres on scale?
Im "guessing" the data from Flukso is being sent in the L/Day format incorrectly same as incorrect scale on Flukso page.

fafot's picture

I tried any possible combination and cannot get it right! Each time I get thousands of liters or tens of liters while actually the right figure is shown properly on Flukso with L/day and is hundreds of liter.

So I think that Bazzle is right - Flukso sends the data incorrectly to PVoutput.

Fluc's picture

I played with the axis and now I'm getting the Gas usage cumulative on the left and Water usage cumulative on the right of the graph. It showed from 0 to 15 L for this morning.
The problem is that I not getting the right amount of usage.
Consumption showed on the Flukso dash between 6am and 9am = 50 L
Consumption showed on PVoutput between 6am and 9am = 11 L

There is indeed something wrong with the data send from Flukso.
Same with gas usage...

I want to know how many users on PVoutput there are who use the extended data fields with a Flukso and have problems with it ?

Wizzopa's picture

@fluc

I do have the same problem.

Fluc's picture

Look now on the graphic of today, what is wrong here ?
